Jan Hermans passed away

The national KBDB days were dominated by sadness when on Saturday evening the news came through that Jan Hermans (Waalre) had passed away. A few days before his 74th birthday.  Everybody knew that Jan's health was not good . Jan Hermans was a very amiable man and has meant a lot to the Belgian and international pigeon sport. He became known to the public through "Zwartje De Postduif". A 10-part television series in which the pigeon sport was explained from needle to thread and which was broadcasted in the years 1985-1986 by the national television in Belgium as well as in the Netherlands. Afterwards Jan became known as the owner of Sportblad De Duif which he ran the last years with his children Anke and Rik. Their champion celebration "De Gouden Duif" is and remains an unequalled event in pigeon sport. But also as a pigeon fancier Jan knew how to stand his ground whereby he could hardly hide his love for the long distance races.

Jan...thanks for the many moments we had together...rest in peace...and you will be well. All the best to you...rest in peace friend.
