Jespers – Vanderwegen from Holsbeek win 1st Br.Unie Vierzon 2,868 old (fastest of 4,976p)

The season has started well for the Jespers – Vanderwegen tandem from Holsbeek in Brabant. On their favorite flights they immediately hit the 1st Brabants Unie Vierzon against 2,868 old pigeons, this is also the fastest pigeon of 4,976 in total. Again a hen from the line of stock father “Kleine Dirk”. The stock father who has already provided so many top pigeons in the extreme middle distance.

In 2022 only with hens

The racing team used to be raced here on total widowhood, but because the cocks did not have as much performance as the season progressed, Herman and Johny chose to only race with the hens. In total there are 27 pieces that were coupled for 3 weeks in January. After that, everything was cleaned up and they were darkened from March 1 to the end of April. Because the loft is dark, they have already started here during the day with some extra lighting so that the pigeons get some condition.

During the day they live in a resting loft on slats and they train once a day (around 2.30 pm). The training was good in the spring and they still fly easily for 45 to 60 minutes.
They are picked up in this way when basketing. Calm basketing is the message here. When they return home, they can stay together until the evening or the next morning.

In their preparation they flew 2x Momignies, 3x Soissons, 1x middle distance, Salbris and now Vierzon. The old birds will fly the national races anyway, the yearlings have less experience by only flying 2 provincial races last year.

In the field of nutrition, confidence is given to the Beyers mixtures. For example, the hens are fed with Sport Galaxy and Sport Energy towards basketing. Oil is used over the feed together with Guy Mertens conditioning powder. Before the season they were checked and treated against tricho, now in the season itself they work weekly with a yellow drop in the beak when basketing.
