Gavere: The long-distance season is now also running at full speed and all the top pigeons are currently running with sharpened knives between their teeth because the coming weeks are very important to score important points for the national ace pigeon championships. Who will win the battle remains to be seen because this season the last 3 long distance races Cahors, Souillac and Libourne play an important role because the future national ace pigeon must have one of these races on his record.
One of the candidates is Jo Bauters from Gavere, East Flanders. After 3 long distance races he is currently 3rd and 10th best pigeon of Belgium (Ranking)

The offspring of "Fabian" does it!
Let's go back to the summer of 2014. After Bourges and Chateauroux, Poitiers was the 3rd national big middle distance race of the season. No less than 12,377 were on the release site and they were released at 8:30 am with a steel blue sky and northeast wind. "On such flights class always comes to the surface" say experts and they were right because the great winner was "Fabian" (B11-4239270). A classy cock which, before his top performance from Poitiers, was already able to show off its next great performances:

And to underline his class once more... the national victory from Poitiers was achieved at a speed of 1111.89 m/m. Pithy detail... "Fabian" was the only old pigeon in the competition that crossed the 1100m/m mark.
As you know, Jo Bauters had a very successful total sale in 2020 on the Herbots website and now Jo has taken a new start with the offspring of "Fabian" and concentrates mainly on the long distance races. But also the breeding lines of the other Bauters top birds are doing very well and we are talking about:

"Totti": 1st National Cahors 2018 against 6,356 old birds
"Salvatore": 1st National Limoges 10,699 yearlings (fastest of 20,277 pigeons)
To come back to the descendants of "Fabian". Not only in Gavere but also with a lot of other fanciers they play a leading role. Recently Team BDS/Speybroeck won the 1st National Issoudun with a grandchild of "Fabian".
