Johny Janssens (Eksel) wins 3rd Nat. Tulle II against 5,753 yearlings

07 Aug 2024

Eksel - Johny Janssens put in a handsome performance on the national flight from Tulle. He can proudly report that he took the 1st provincial prize for the province of Limburg against 588 yearlings, and where he was the fastest of 1,123 old and yearlings combined. With this brilliant performance, he also grabbed the 3rd national prize against 5,753 yearlings. In addition to his provincial winner, Johny had another early old pigeon at Tulle taking 13th provincial place against 535 old birds and 76th place nationally against 4,964 old birds.

Family of Top Pigeons

Johny explains a bit more about his winner: "BE23-5064807, my winning pigeon, is a daughter of my 5th Olympiad pigeon Pozan Cat. B 2019. She is also a half-sister of "Olympic Speedgirl", the 3rd Olympiad pigeon Cat. A Belgium 2019-2020, who was also 7th World Best Pigeon Speed 2020 Belgium and 11th Nat. Ace Pigeon Speed. Meanwhile, this is my 14th provincial win."

Game System

Johny explains that he works with cocks on widowhood. He starts with about 28 cocks and 50 hens. One loft is fully widowhood and one loft with hens on widowhood with the partner staying at home, which usually performs best. The hens are outside in the aviary day and night and only join their partner in the loft when they return home and on Wednesday, one day before basketing, for half an hour. "I try to keep everything as simple as possible and still find that to be the best system," said Johny.

Feeding System and Breeding

Johny uses Aidi feed for all his pigeons and largely follows the schedules, with slight adjustments depending on the heaviness of the flight. He has about 24 breeding pairs.

Base Pigeons

Johny's success is partly due to the strong basic pigeons of Heremans, Nulens Camiel (from the line of "De Fenomenale", 1 Nat. ace pigeon long-distance KBDB), his old strain of F. Marien x combi Van De Wiel-Schreuder, Dierickx-Vissers (Zele) (via Clerinx-Yskout), W. De Bruyn via M. Lossignol, and Gebr. Scheele (via Ryks Kristine).
