Team Platteeuw wins 1st and 2nd Prov. Bourges yearlings against 3.256b

31 May 2024

On the first national flight Bourges for yearlings, Team Platteeuw once again performed very well.
With both the wind and the location not in their favour, they managed to win the 1st and 2nd Prov. Bourges West-Flanders for yearlings.
Team Platteeuw clocked no less than 9 pigeons in the top 20 provincially, impressive!

BE23-4013676 "SNOW", 1ste Prov. Bourges
When we ask Kurt about last weekend's winner, his blue hen "Snow", you quickly notice that she has her good results from no strangers.
"The good ones always come from the good ones of course" says Kurt.
A sister of "Snow" herself flew the 18th provincial last weekend.
Also when you look at the pedigree of "Snow" you notice that this hen is bred from some of Kurts best lines.
For example, BE19-3119096 (the sire of "Snow") is a brother of Kurts 1st Nat. Souillac (4,056b) winner.
Also the "Money Maker" bloodline runs through this bird.
"Money Maker" won:
7th Nat. Ace KBDB All Round  2018
4x top 100 Nat.
BE18-3118686, the mother of "Snow", won:
20th Nat. Bourges against 18.785b
30th Nat. Cahors against 4.155b
110th Nat. Bourges against 24.006b

BE23-3032153 "Brother Siska", 2nd Prov. Bourges
"Brother Siska" comes from an extraordinary pigeon family.
His sister, "Siska", is a true champion who was the 8th national ace pigeon.
She is also the mother of "Fienie", the best pigeon of 2023 on the long distance with three national results, the second national ace pigeon and Olympic pigeon.
In addition, "Siska" also bred "Basile", who finished second national at Brive.
This family of supercracks continues to produce impressive performances, underlining their exceptional genetic ability.

The story of "Brother Siska" begins with a gesture of friendship.
During an auction, Moroccan pigeon fancier Lahsen Fahmoune bought the mother of "Siska".
Shortly afterwards, he contacted Kurt Platteeuw and offered to return the mother of "Siska".
After all, he knew that the father, top breeder "Freddy", was still in Platteeuw's loft.
From this reunion of "Anne-Marie" (Siska's mother) and "Freddy", "Brother Siska" was born.
Unfortunately, "Anne-Marie" died due to an accident in the loft, making "Brother Siska" her only youngster.
His past performances, however, prove that "Brother Siska" is a new revelation in the making.
So you see that friendship in pigeon racing certainly exists.

Bourges and Team Platteeuw, a good combo?
Bourges has always had special meaning for Team Platteeuw.
In recent years, they have won several national victories from Bourges:
In 2021 with Greta against 34,315 pigeons.
In 2022 with Melissa as fastest out of 41,816 pigeons.
And in 2023 with Sienna, who won 1st provincial (96th national) out of 9,197 pigeons.
So this year was no exception, with first and second provincial wins in Bourges.

Kurt Platteeuw considers the Bourges performance to be one of the most impressive in his career.
Despite the unfavourable wind and location, his pigeons managed to produce a unique performance.
"Colleagues and myself thought we would fall short at Bourges due to a lack of competition, but what they showed on Saturday, I would never have dared to dream" said Platteeuw.
"It is true that by now everyone knows that there is a huge difference between national top racers and provincial top racers.
If it is national, then Platteeuw pigeons are a class apart" concludes Kurt.

Future Prospects
With 10 national wins, including seven in the last five years, the future looks bright for Team Platteeuw.
"We are going to carry on quietly and enjoy the pigeons," says Kurt Platteeuw, full of confidence and passion for the sport that has brought him so much.

Congratulations on your victory Team Platteeuw on behalf of the entire Herbots Team!
