Van Vugt-Donckers Triumph with 1st Provincial Vierzon Antwerp against 1,024 Yearlings and Old Pigeons

22 Aug 2024

Lille - Cindy Van Vugt and Dirk Donckers once again confirmed their status as top pigeon fanciers in the national flight from Vierzon last weekend. Their hen, BE22-6127741, set the fastest time of the entire field of participants of 1,024 yearlings and old birds. At national level, the winner finished in 6th place against 5,780 yearlings and old birds.

The impressive performance of this hen is no coincidence. With pedigree on both fathers' and mothers' sides as a great-granddaughter of the legendary "Jackpot," she has a strong genetic base. The influence of the lines of "Little Olympic Blue" and "Superman" can also be found in her pedigree, making her an exceptional pigeon.

Focusing on Speed and Middle Distance flights

Van Vugt-Donckers mainly focus on speed and middle distance flights, with occasional forays into shorter long distance flights. This season, they participated in the provincial flight from Blois and the National flights from Bourges and Vierzon. The hens deployed last weekend were in optimal nesting positions (Bourges: heavy eggs, Vierzon: flat youngsters), which gave them an extra advantage during the flight. This confirmed their winning pigeon by first flying a 170th Nat Bourges to then win the 6th national prize at Vierzon a week later.
