Comb. Ebben scores on Niergnies: 1-3-14-21-59 etc against 6,770 pigeons (17/15) and becomes 1st General in Division 8/GOU (1,682 members)

Last Saturday, under tropical conditions (31 degrees and southeast wind), the last races of this season were flown in Division 8/GOU. On the “Natour” race from Niergnies, 6,770 pigeons were in competition and on this race, combination Ebben from Boven-Leeuwen scored the following prizes: 1-3-14-21-59-74-75-79 and so on. They had 17 pigeons along and won 15 prizes, of which 15 per ten (88%) and 5 prizes 1:100 (29%).

We introduce the first pigeons that flew 1:100:

1st Niergnies 6,770 pigeons 

The NL23-4703303 arrived first. This cock, a spitting image of his uncle 'Linus', is bred together with Gerald Ensing from Valthe. His best breeding cock 'Tears' (father 3 x 1st Provincial) coupled with 'Mable', a full sister to 'Linus' (mother 2 x 1st Provincial and grandmother 1st Provincial).

NL23-4703303 became the winner of Niergnies against 6,707 pigeons. He is out of co-breeding with Gerald Ensing. His mother is a sister to "Linus" and (half) siblings flew 4 x 1st in the division.

 

3rd Niergnies 6,770 pigeons

More than a minute after the first arrived the NL22-8080513. This hen became General acebird in the club this year and only missed her prize once. She is out of the 2nd national ace pigeon day long distance which was bought at comb. Mookhoek coupled with 'Mabel', a daughter of the top breeding pair 'Hannibal' x 'Katja'. Her nest sister flew 1st Provincial C`himay against 8,815 pigeons last year.

 

NL22-8280513 finished 3rd in the competition. This hen missed her prize only once this year and became 1st General Pigeon Champion.

 

14th Niergnies 6,770 pigeons

After a gap of 4 minutes there appear to be few pigeons left on this tough flight. Then the NL23-9147618 arrives at Ebben. This promising cock is a son of none other than 'Linus' coupled with 'Peke', winner of 1st national Ruffec (760 km). The 618 is a half-brother to 'Pizza' (2 x 1st national ace pigeon, Olympiad pigeon) and 'Pandemic' (19 x 1:100 and 4 x 1st in main event).

Perennial favourite NL22-8280502 falls fourth on the flap. On the mother's side, she is a half-sister of the 303 which wins this race, from 'Mable'. His father comes from G. & S. Verkerk.

 

NL22-8280502 won 21st against 6,770 pigeons and was one of the regulars in the loft this year. She also finished among the best 50 yearlings in the Netherlands. She won a whole series of great prizes including 1st Bierges 2,370 pigeons. On her mother's side she is a half-sister of winner.

59th Niergnies 6,770 pigeons

The last pigeon to fly 1:100 was again a young cock. On this flight, the combination had put in only young cocks and old hens. The NL23-9147627 is out of 'Nardo' x 'Malon' and is therefore a full brother to 'Paulina' (1st Prov. and 19th national ace yearling).


 

Care

The care of the pigeons is simple. Throughout the year, the pigeons are on widowhood and are allowed to train twice a day. After the last official old pigeon race, the youngsters are separated and the young hens can move to the hen-loft where they will spend the rest of the season together with the old hens, after all, there are only three departments at Comb. Ebben. The old hens and a few cocks will then be raced on the long distance races. During the old pigeon races the pigeons are not tossed at all, but with the youngsters the combination goes out several times a week. During the natour, the old pigeons are then also taken along. The sexes are simply released at the same time and half an hour after returning home everything is separated again.
The racers receive the same mixture all year round (Vanrobaeys 3910 'Ebben Special'), which is made lighter with Paddy or heavier with Engergy Mix according to their needs. See the instruction video on YouTube for this.
By-products are not given much. Obviously a good grit mixture, in addition minerals (Saturday) and condition powder (Sunday) by Mariën, once a month syrup and Zell Oxygen by Herbots and Daflor HE to moisten the feed when minerals and codition powder go over the feed.

Championships in Division 8/GOU

With the flying of the last races, the championships in the department are also known, before the national championships are completely known we still have to be patient but also here combination Ebben falls several times in the top-10. Moreover, 'Pizza' goes to the Olympiad in Maastricht.
