Emiel Denys (Tielt) top on the Marathon and OLR races world-wide

In Belgium and far beyond, they know Emiel Denys. Always ready for a chat. He has filled his career with international wins, ace pigeons, national championships,....everything he has won, or at least almost everything, in his long career. 
In 2020 was the anniversary for family Denys in pigeon racing, they were no less than 100 years active in this fantastic sport and grandfather Emiel Denys Sr was the start of it all of course. For long-distance and heavy-distance races were mainly the favourite domain of family Denys and now since a few years of course also the one loft races where they have already performed top in several countries in the world thanks to their race.

No wonder Emiel, a few years ago, received the "Lifetime Achievement award" from the KBDB. Emiel has written a piece of the history of Belgian pigeon racing. That is beyond dispute.

A breeding loft built with historical bloodlines
For years, Emiel has found the perfect mix in his breeding loft. The basis is formed by bloodlines that have dominated the long-distance world for years. Thus, with descendants of the Cattrysse, Vanbruaene, Stichelbaut (De "Remie 54") and Coutteau breeds, he created a strong long-distance strain. The contribution of Dutch long-distance fancier Anton van der Wegen is also more than successful. Besides the basic breeds, the famous "Tee" line is still practically woven into all toppers. Emiel has always been a collector of international winners/as pigeons. Toppers that have also left their mark on the current strain structure and here we spontaneously think of the toppers "Silver Wing Barcelona" (3rd Internat. Barcelona - Decherf Etienne) and "Trapke" (1st Nat. acebird KBDB alround - Leutenez)

"Sophia": 1st International Narbonne yearlings 2018

This bright little hen with ring number 3017438/17 must have enormous willpower. She braved the terrible heat and subsequent heat thunderstorm to crawl onto her nest as soon as possible. After the release at 7:15am in the southern French city of Narbonne, she put in a solid pace. After 875 leaden kilometres, she arrived in Tielt in West Flanders at 20:54h, good for an average speed of 1068.31 m/m. This made her not only the fastest Belgian pigeon but also out of 6423 yearlings internationally. As an added bonus, she was even the fastest hen of the entire pack, so she also took the title of 1st International hens.
If we take a closer look at "Sophia" her pedigree, we see nothing but proven bloodlines. For example, her father is a son of the "Silver Wing" (who won 3rd Int. Barcelona 2013 with Etienne Decherf). That "Silver Wing" was then paired with a full sister of the 1st Int. Barcelona hens in 2013 with Daniël Arens. Her dam, the "Blue Narbonne" is a pure Emiel Denys product. She herself won the 11thProvincial Narbonne in 2016 before she started to prove her breeding value.
The great thing is that Emiel also won the 1st International in 1974 with his "Prince" and look 44 years on, he did it again with his "Lady Narbonne"
