Jespers – Vanderwegen from Holsbeek confirm their top status with 1st National Tulle 4,982 old pigeons in 2023

The Jespers – Vanderwegen colony lives in the Flemish Brabant municipality of Holsbeek. Herman & Johny have been this tandem for several years and always with success. In 2023 they were again present at the highest level and won the 1st National Tulle against 4,982 old pigeons with their top hen “Young Leonidas”. This is already the follow-up to top hen “Ramona” from the year before. “Young Leonidas” was not a test piece with her national victory and will certainly provide toppers in the breeding loft in the coming years. This national victory brings us back to stock cock “Kleine Dirk”. This cock they were able to obtain in 2003 through Dirk Van Dijck. The mother of the national winner is a double granddaughter of stock sire “Kleine Dirk”. In the previous years he quickly became a top breeder and is also a grandson of “Den Bourges”, a brother of the world-famous “Kannibaal”. Afterwards they looked across the border at Ad Schaerlaeckens for crossing material that went fantastic together. Now in the current racing and breeding loft several top pigeons are related to this cross and they provide top racers in the 3rd and 4th generation.
