Tournelle – Hua Feng (Rummen) wins 1st Provincial Sancoins 2,217 yearlings

The national flight from Sancoins took place last weekend, the winner for the province of Flemish Brabant with the yearlings can be found in Rummen at the top colony of Davy Tournelle, who is now racing together with Mr. Hua Feng from China for the first time this year. The winning pigeon is a yearling hen that has already made itself known 3 times in the national flights and is currently the 4th best yearling in 3 national races.

System

The racing team here consists of cocks and hens. The hens are usually 2 for 1 cocks, one group has been allowed to raise a round of youngsters in the winter and the other group has only been together for 4-5 days. Just like the first group of hens, the cocks were also allowed to raise a youngster.

In the run-up to training, a good basic condition is first ensured at home before starting to drive. Usually they train easily for an hour before I start training them. During training, the cocks came together with their hen for 5-6 days, while the hens were only allowed to see their cock again after their first official flight. One group would stay there for 2-3 days and the following week it would be the turn of the next group. The hens always train for one hour during the season, the cocks always do free training. In the beginning they train once a day and in the month of April / May they train twice a day. Now after 2 national flights we have reduced the training to once a day. Only the cocks have switched to twice a day, while the hens always train at home at a fixed hour.

During basketing, only the dish is shown to the widowers, this is a fixed rhythm and requires less work. The pigeons remain quietly in their box, making it easy for them to record. The hens come in 2 groups with the cocks in the afternoon for half an hour and are fed for the last time at 4:30 PM.

When they return home from the flights, the cocks are immediately shown their hen half-cock and they can stay with it until 4:30 PM - 4:45 PM. The latecomers are unlucky and do not get their hen later. With the hens, the cocks are locked in the living box and the hens are first allowed to roam freely. They are then referred to the resting loft and if the flight is smooth, they can take turns with the cocks. If it has been very difficult, we do not dare to leave the hens there and they will only see their cock on Thursday. We have already noticed that the hens do not really need a cock after a difficult flight and prefer to just recover. They see the cock again for the next flight.

The latest references thanks to Davy's pigeons can be found at Embrechts – Theunis, he won 5th Provincial Morlincourt against 18,082 pigeons with “Tiesto Girl”. This hen is 50% Davy descent and the mother is a daughter of Tiesto's Lady and granddaughter of stock father Tiesto. 

The other reference comes from Belgium and this from Team Noel – Willockx, their 2 year old hen won 26th National Tulle against 7,883 pigeons and the mother here is also directly from Davy. She is a daughter of super breeder and racer “Tevez” who is again a son of stock sire Tiesto.
