Van Schoorisse Geert (Nukerke) Achieves Beautiful Performances at Pau and Agen
02 Jul 2024
Nukerke - Geert Van Schoorisse has once again shown that his pigeons are among the absolute best. At the Pau and Agen races, his grizzle pigeons, a strain that has been nurtured in his family for generations, achieved brilliant results.
"In the photos you can see this week's proud winners: two grey pigeons," says Geert. "This old variety was already nurtured by my grandfather and father and I have been taking great care of them for 35 years now. They perform excellently in the long distance. As early as 1969, a grizzle pigeon won 4th national at Angoulême. Also my winner of the 1st series international 1+2 Barcelona in 1994 was a grizzle pigeon."
Classic Widowhood
Geert uses classic widowhood as his game system, but youngsters are also played. "It is essential that youngsters are trained well. This means they must have flown at least one national race. Medically, the pigeons get all the necessary vaccinations and are treated according to the vet's recommendations," Geert explains.
Pau
The winner of Pau, with ring number BE18-4040179 was clocked 17th pigeon nationally against 3,368 pigeons and has flown as many as 12 times internationally, winning 9 prizes. His brother, BE17-4014528, has flown 16 times internationally and won a top-10 place 11 times.
Agen
The winner of Agen, BE21-4049360, took the provincial victory for the province of East Flanders against 1,703 old birds. At international level, this translates to 10th place against 9,535 old birds (18th place nationally against 13,831 old and yearlings) and incidentally, this pigeon has an impressive score with 5 international races and 5 wins. Its sister, 4040108/18, won first prize at Toury four times in 2018.

"It is impossible to list all the great achievements after 30 years of pigeon racing," says Geert proudly. "One of my greatest achievements was winning the Golden Wing in 1993, a pigeon I sold to your grandfather Filip Herbots at the time. "
Geert Van Schoorisse remains a name to reckon with in international pigeon racing, with his grizzle pigeons forming the crown jewels of his impressive legacy.
Geert, congratulations once again from the entire Herbots team!
