Annick Goeteyn (Deinze) Confirms Good Form of Her Colony with 1st I.Prov. Fontenay

29 Aug 2024

Deinze - It is starting to become a tradition to contact Annick Goeteyn after yet another brilliant weekend for her pigeon colony. Together with her partner Christian, Annick put up another impressive performance last weekend. On the inter-provincial flight from Fontenay, her pigeon "Little Lucky" won the 1st inter-provincial prize against no less than 2,948 youngsters.

In addition, Annick also managed to secure 5th, 6th and 7th place on the same flight, giving her a total of four pigeons in the top-10. In the association she also clocked 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 9th and 10th place against 231 youngsters. This win brings Annick's total to 32 wins this season, including three inter-provincial wins and a 1st Provincial Bourges. A phenomenal achievement!

Little Lucky

BE24-4033084, aka "Little Lucky", is a little hen who has not yet been paired nor has she nested. Yet she seems motivated by the nesting cocks around her, who try to impress her while their hens are on nest. With an impressive speed of 2040 metres per minute, she almost literally raced past her loft. But "Little Lucky" knew exactly what to do to take the win. In total, 25 of the 60 pigeons basketed managed to fly interprovincially in the top-10%.

Ideal Starting Position for the Races

The youngsters have been in perfect condition for four weeks now: just paired, on nest, laying eggs, and incubating the eggs. These ideal conditions clearly translate into their performance in recent weeks. The correct positioning of the pigeons, combined with their excellent health and motivation, means they manage to excel time and again. The video below confirms the good condition of the pigeons when they arrive home.

Nutrition and System

Annick and Christian's excellent performance is no accident; their system and nutrition are optimally tailored to the needs of their colony. We talked about this earlier in our article on their Provincial win at Bourges. Want to know more about their approach? Then read the full story here: Annick Goeteyn wins 1st Provincial Bourges.

Pedigree structure: Powerful Bloodlines with Focus on Gaby Vandenabeele

The strain structure of Annick Goeteyn's pigeon colony is largely based on the renowned bloodlines of Gaby Vandenabeele, with no less than 95% of the pigeons coming from this legendary lineage. The core of the colony is built around the well-known lines of "Bliksem" and "Wittenbuik". One of the most important pigeons from which Annick's strain was built is "Captain Blue", a direct son of "Bliksem". In addition, "Nancy", a super breeding hen from Gaby that he bought from Leo De Jonghe, is also a hen that cannot be left out of the successful base of the colony. Below are some of the pigeons around which Annick's colony was built:

Conclusion

Annick Goeteyn continues to impress with her outstanding performances this season. Her dedication, the right training and feeding strategies, and the perfect balance in her colony have allowed her to finish at the top time after time. Congratulations, Annick and Christian, from the entire Herbots team! You prove that hard work and passion are always rewarded.
