Nadine Wauters: 1st Provincial Vivonne old birds East-Flanders
28 Jun 2024
Going back to the national Vivonne competition for a moment. In East Flanders, the provincial win in the old birds category was for Nadine Wauters from Appelterre. For those who were not allowed to know Appelterre lies in the shadow of the better-known Ninove.
They play under the name Nadine Wauters but I am not exaggerating when I say that the whole family is very closely involved in pigeon racing. A teamwork that bears fruit because in recent years they won among others 1st national Brive yearling and 2nd national La Souterraine against 14,215 youngsters with "Miss La Souterraine". Spicy detail, the national winner Brive is a full brother of "Miss La Souterraine".
Wauters family loves animals...this is more than apparent when you enter their home. A butterfinch sits in its typical cage on the kitchen table whistling its song, while a grey redstart looks at me slightly menacingly. Not to mention that big dog and the numerous songbirds outside in the aviary and the chickens under the pigeon coop. Besides all this, they also have a nice loft installation because pigeon racing is baked in the veins here. "We play from Noyon to Barcelona", they start their story "it has to be really bad if we don't want to basket for a certain race".
Vivonne
Provincial winner was "Plekske" B21-4185316. With an average speed of 1796.47 m/m, she beat the Vivonne kite of Martin D'Hondt from Vurste (1796.35 m/m) and this one of Gert Van Limbergen (Zele - 1793.94 m/m) in a mille metre sprint.
Another fine victory for the entire Wauters family
