Bleus Marleen (Wellen) wins 1st Prov. Pau Limburg against 312 pigeons (3rd National against 3,368 pigeons)

27 Jun 2024

Bleus Marleen from Wellen were in the prizes last Tuesday. Their hen BE21-5015543 took first place Provincial Limburg on the national flight from Pau against 312 pigeons and finished third nationally against 3,368 pigeons.

The Winning Hen
The hen BE21-5015543 has achieved good results before. In 2023, she flew to second provincial place on the flight from St.-Vincent. Her pedigree is a combination of inbred "Kleine Jade" by Jelle Jellema on her father's side and a daughter of "Lotte", which achieved several top rankings in the heavy long-distance, coming from Marleen herself.

Preparation and Training
Marleen gives insight into her approach: "In mid-March, all racers were paired," she tells us. "These were allowed to incubate until the first couples started 'walking off the eggs'. Then the pigeons were released and the preparation flights were on widowhood. The pigeons for Pau were also prepared on widowhood until the national flight from Bourges on 25 May. A few days after Bourges, they were paired and left for Pau at about ten days' incubation. The winning hen brooded for eight days."

After the flight from Bourges, the pigeons were no longer basketed in the association. In the week before basketing from Pau, the pigeons were driven by themselves three to four times to about 40 kilometres. All pigeons were played on nests, which contributed to her success.

The Hen
The winning hen is a very small, finely built pigeon. In 2023, she flew Bourges and Cahors as a two-year-old, but did not win any prizes. In the flight from St.-Vincent, however, she finished second provincially. In 2024, she flew Bourges again, but again without a prize. Her performance on the flight from Pau resulted in first place provincially and third place nationally.

Conclusion
With this victory, Marleen shows that her approach and dedication and patience are paying off. Her careful preparation and strategy led to an excellent performance by her hen BE21-5015543.

Marleen, congratulations from the entire Herbots team!
